World Soil Day: Unique soil passport in the spotlight

05.12.2023

Today is World Soil Day, a day on which we pay extra attention to the soil on which and from which we live. Because soil is indispensable for many agricultural activities. That is why since September all Flemish farmers can consult their soil passports for the parcels of land they use. This tool is new and still unknown to many farmers, so what better day than today to put the soil passport in the spotlight. Read the full article in VILT (in dutch).

The soil passport and DjustConnect

The soil passport is an application within the E-counter for farmers and advisers in which information about the soil of their plots can be easily accessed. Thus, the soil passport can be used as a tool by farmers to make informed decisions about their soils for the benefit of soil quality.

An important part of this information is the soil sample analyses from the labs. Sharing of this data is done through DjustConnect. In this way

  • Sharing this data complies with the European code of conduct for data sharing in agriculture;
  • Is the sharing of this data compliant with the applicable European legislations (Data Act, Data Governance Act and GDPR);
  • Do farmers retain an overview and control over their data;
  • Can the lab analyses also be shared with other applications to limit the administrative burden of farmers.
