DjustConnect wins hackathon from Microsoft and Digital Flanders with interactive farm map

24.11.2021

Stephanie Van Weyenberg: "The idea behind this map is the growing interest in local food and the short chain since corona. We see one online ordering platform after another springing up. For farmers, that offers opportunities, but also a lot of extra administration. Unless we can allow the data that farmers have to enter digitally anyway, e.g. in the e-ticketing office, with their personal consent to flow directly to the platforms or tickets they want to be present on."

The demo version of the map is now being further developed by ILVO. The application will be launched in early 2022 and it will also be accessible for other organisations, companies and short-chain platforms, to integrate it in their websites or apps.

Microsoft and Digitaal Vlaanderen were impressed by the pitch Stephanie Van Weyenberg gave. "It was a warm call for cooperation to break open data silos and share more data to enable further innovation in the Flemish agrifood sector and to put Flanders even more on the digital map as a knowledge region."

And the main prize, apart from the enormous honour given to the winners? BosPlus will be planting 1,000 trees in Tanzania on behalf of ILVO, Cegeka and DXC Technology.
